GOVERNMENT SHOULD CALL A MEETING AND DISCUSS THE PROBLEMS -LPG DISTRIBUTORS ASSOCIATION
Many questions still awaiting answers on the proposed gas subsidy.
CHHOTA AKHBAR.
Rajasthan LPG
Distributors Association held a press conference and drew the attention of the
Rajasthan government to the problems being faced in domestic gas distribution
and various related programs and said that the government should call a meeting
with the distributor representatives at the state level and discuss the
problems. So that a situation like strike does not arise. We the distributors
have been and will continue to play a good role in the government's efforts to
provide relief to the consumers, but the responsible officers should also play
their part in solving the problems of the distributors.
Union officials
told the media representatives that gas distributors are facing a lot of
problems in the camps organized under the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra.
The distributor
is expected to provide services in 2 to 3 camps at different places in a day. A
distributor has limited staff and resources. Apart from this, regular work
related to gas distribution also has to be done. It becomes impossible to
provide services everywhere.
This
responsibility cannot be entrusted to temporarily appointed staff.
Accusing the
administrative officer of putting pressure on the union, the union said that
they also insist on doing KYC in the camp and giving gas connection
immediately, whereas before giving the connection, the process prescribed by
the company has to be completed. Connection cannot be issued to ineligible
persons. Officials are setting their own targets and are intent on meeting them
and are even reprimanding the distributors for not being able to do so, whereas
meeting this target is beyond the power of the LPG distributor.
On the other
hand, the servers of the company and Aadhaar are running slowly and due to weak
data network in remote villages, it is not possible to make a connection by
doing eKYC. Whereas the gas distributor gets the honorarium fixed by the
Government of India. Due to the expense of many camps of this type being
included in that honorarium, the gas distributor is suffering huge financial
loss.
Many questions still awaiting answers on the proposed gas subsidy.
The union also said that many questions on the proposed gas subsidy are still awaiting answers. Due to this, distributors face confusion in responding to customers. The union asked the government to talk to the distributor representatives on issues like gas distribution, camps and subsidies and make programs and policies as per convenience so that the benefits of various schemes can be given to the gas consumers without any hindrance.
Making several allegations against the oil companies, the union told the media representatives that in this winter season, when gas consumption generally increases, gas supply is not being provided regularly. Distributors can make money and their own indent, in which there is no shortage, after this it is the responsibility of the company to provide gas to the distributor. After January 1 (after the truck strike), gas supply has not come back on track. The indents made by the distributors are arbitrarily canceled by the company. The company is forcing the distributors to meet unreasonable targets. Even pressure is being put on selling 'rubber tubes' and 'mandatory testing' while doing eKYC. For this test the customer has to pay Rs 236/-. Which is not practical for the distributor to work on this type of target.
On the other hand, if the distributors are not able to meet any target, a penalty of lakhs of rupees is also threatened against the distributor under MDG and in this way, a penalty of lakhs of rupees was imposed on many distributors by finding some mistake or the other. Is. Due to the compulsion to meet the DAC/OTP targets, there is a hindrance in supplying gas to villages and poor families.
Union officials
said that despite several efforts, the company is not talking to distributor
representatives to resolve these problems. Last year, when the distributors
gave a strike notice, an assurance was given that the problems of the
distributors would be resolved by holding a meeting every 3-4 months, but leave
alone the solution, the companies are not ready to even listen to the problems.
